From our Attorney, Robby Dube

Hey everyone, we had a good day in court today overall.

The big takeaway is the Judge said (paraphrasing) “I know how important this case is to the community and the developer, so I want to make sure you have the time you need.” This shows she’s engaged in the case and taking everything seriously.

Gotion told the Court they have not begun Stage II at the plant and we will be getting documents about Stage II over the next weeks and month.

However, the sad news is that our named plaintiff Brian Kovaka’s health has taken a quite serious downturn. He could really use your prayers. Because of his deteriorating health, he may have to sell his home and leave Manteno.

We are actively evaluating next steps in that eventuality now and plan to update everyone once we’ve determined the next course of action.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

In 2023, our elected officials cut a deal behind closed doors with Gotion, LLC to build an electric vehicle battery plant in Manteno, IL. This plant is estimated to receive over $7 billion in state and federal tax subsidies, and appallingly, Gotion is linked to the CCP and slave labor in China.

Taxpayers are subsidizing a national adversary tied to slave labor! We are fighting in court to stop the deal. So far, our small group has raised over $70,000 to fight this. We cannot do it alone! We need your help. Please donate whatever you can to our fight (donations are not tax deductible).
